We’re well aware that the world’s awash with digital mutimeters, some good, some not so good, but there are definitely times when an accurate analogue meter, with the instant visible response on a large analogue scale with parallax mirror is indispensable. We have a couple of analogue meters supporting the digital ones on our own bench, so thought we’d on sell this beautiful Sanwa that recently came into our possession.
The TR700 is a full size meter from the very well respected Japanese manufacturer, with an inbuilt transistor go/no go checker and transistor HFE ranges to assist in matching transistors. It’s a 50kΩ per volt specification.
Most of these more expensive meters would have seen professional use, and not survived the ravages of decades well at all. Not so this one… a one owner unit that was only used with care on an occasional basis it is in perfect condition, with its original leads (complete with bakelite probes), original carton, and original owner’s manual. Just a lovely thing.
RANGES:
Dc Voltage: 0.3, 1.2, 3, 12, 30, 120, 600, 1200 (up to 30kV if you add a HV probe)
AC Voltage (up to 80kHz): 3, 12, 30, 120, 600
DC current: 30µA, 1.2mA, 30mA, 600mA
Resistance: 0-10kΩ scale with x1, x10, x100, x1000 (so maximum 10MΩ)
db: -20 to 57
Transistor: Check and hFE measure for both PNP and NPN
The unit measures 194mm x 135mm x 57mm (not including the multi position handle) and weighs 740g without batteries.
4 x aa cells will be included.

It’s modestly powered (specced at 15 watts per channel into 8Ω at 1kHz, and 10 watts per channel into 8Ω from 40Hz through to 20kHz, or more into 4Ω), but you won’t be surprised by the fact it sounds much more powerful than that.
