Fender Jazz Bass Neck 1977
$5,000
SHIPPING OFFERED
American Birdseye Maple - one piece neck & fingerboard.
I purchased this in 1992 from the Bass Player Annandale & at the time it was new, unused & unmounted. The Bass Player purchased it from the original purchaser / collector earlier in 1992.
It was made by Fender U.S.A. in 1977 specifically as an exotic improvement. It was not designated as part of an assembled guitar, & at that time in 1992, HAD NEVER BEEN FITTED TO A GUITAR.
It was complete with machine head escutcheons, allen key, production line checklist & sales display ticket. It was window displayed in it's original Fender U.S.A. delivery box & I have all of the above plus the original receipt from the Bass Player Annandale. The paperwork & box is not offered as part of this sale.
It has 5 original bolt holes. A 3 pattern to fit the then current '77 manufacture & a 4 pattern to retro fit to earlier pattern bodies. At the time of my purchase all 5 bolt holes were unused. Currently, 4 of the mount holes have been used - the two that were drilled to accommodate the 84 Jazz Bass & the two original holes toward the machine head end. Regarding the two dowelled holes - these can be cleared by either withdrawing or drilling the dowels. The 5th hole remains unused & is covered by the original paper label.
It has a rosewood stringer, sterling silver frets, mother of pearl fret inlay & ivory binding.
The profile is radiused.
I mounted it to a 1984 Fender Jazz Bass & strung it with flat wound carbon strings.
It was played very little & was a pleasure to play. It produces a unique resonance & a substantial sustain.
It now presents in original, undamaged & unworn condition.
It will fit an early model 4 bolt mount body, a later model 3 bolt body & a 1984 pattern body.
I have taken numerous, detailed photos & all are available for a prospective buyer.
Postage, well packed, is offered at cost.
